Hi/lo shift lever

I came across a 1935 B and in one of the pictures it shows that the hi/lo lever comes straight up from the cover plate, continues through a bracket by
the steering shaft bracket, then bends over to a horizontal position. Looks like shifting that lever would be the same type of action as the throttle lever.
Did Deere manufacture this as an option or might this have been something made aftermarket?

My guess would have to be homemade also. I've never come across any reference to one like that.

This could have been a LH reverser prototype. That would be very handy with the Rh hand clutch.

Could be like me. My back make it hard to bend over.
Been that way all my life.
Always wanted to fix a way to unlock brakes without bending over.

That is cool. I like that tractor, have a soft spot for early Bs. I could see an advantage to have the ability to shift the other shifter forward and reverse with your left hand. You need at least three hands to run a loader on a JD. We had a Gladden Hause loader on a 46 A, it had a Baker Valve. No power steering, hand clutch, narrow front. That tractor could sure make your arms strong.

Same soft spot here. Just finished installing a Behlen overdrive in my ?35B. Now 16mph top speed.

Forgot to mention, Everything works fine however 4th and 5th gear are both about 8mph but 6th gear is 16mph. I don?t believe I got it together wrong as first four gears work as before including reverse. I thought that 5th would be somewhere between 4th and 6th speed wise. Any thoughts?
