Have 2955 with cab tractor with Hi-Lo (turtle-rabbit) that quit shifting into hi range, all other hyd's, PTO,steering, brakes, loader, lift work good, linkage feels good, (hard to see) I would be greatful for Any ideas about what happened and what is involed in repairing. Thanks

Is there test ports on there to measure the apply pressure.

The Hi-Lo shift valve is on top of trans beside the ind pto valve. IIRC there are test ports on these valves. On a SGB tractor the linkage has several places to get worn. The SGB mounts may gotten flattened out allowing linkage to change. There is a turnbuckle under SGB to allow for adjustment.
Plate in floorboard can be removed to access the valves.

Jim, tell him the bad news if all the linkages are ok...

Yes, I can see this story is about to get worse, and with a cab too, he is about to see why a lot of us apreciate the Waterlou tractors....

OK Allen
The Mannhiem tractors are not the easiest JD's with a SGB to diagnose and repair. Problem could be in linkage, shift valve or blown sealing ring in Hi-Lo or worst scenario a split supply line to Hi-Lo.

And as usual "Tim" is correct Waterloo tractor hyd's are simpler and easier to diagnose/repair

Removed plate from floorbroad to check linkage, valve is shifting. prolem started with tractor slow to shift from lo to hi, now will not go into hi at all. Sounds like this may be a major job.

You kept using the tractor when there was a known problem with slow shifting?
You may have increased the price of a simple repair today into a major overhaul tomorrow.

There's a strong chance that you have a line leaking inside, unfortunatly those are a bit nasty to get the cab off of and to split, try to get a reading on the trans pressure before you disable it, the split you will need is behind the clutch houseing(second one back)...

Yep. Probably.

As I understand it (and I could be wrong) the high side is hydraulically engaged. A loss of pressure will automatically drop it into low range which doesn't require hydraulics to engage. So if the line to the high side is blown it simply won't engage in high range but low range should operate just fine.
