high oil pressure update

So, as in earlier thread, tractor was running high oil pressure, around 80 psi @ operating temp and 1500ish rpms. It would go down to around 40 psi at idle. Per (Showcrop, I think), I changed the oil to 10w30. Was running 15w40 rotella before. Tried to get 10w20 but couldn't find it. Anyway, ran it again today after oil change and no real significant difference. Still around 80 psi at 1500 rpm. It did idle down a little lower to upper 30's.
Do I just forget about it and run it the way it is? Or should I look into stuck relief valve? If relief valve is stuck just what is happening to make the oil pressure go up?
Any help is much appreciated.
btw: 4000 4cyl. gasser

First thing I'd do is make sure my gauge was accurate. If it is, I wouldn't get too excited over those numbers. It's a little
on the high side but not alarming.

I put a new gauge on it a couple weeks ago and it pegged 80. So I bought a test kit that goes to 140 and I've been running it with that till I get things figured out. So, I think it is a true reading. If 80 psi is not alarming that is what I want to hear. :)

Here's a link to your original thread for reference. Sorry, I don't have any good ideas for you, but 10W-30 is what I run in my 4000. As I recall, the oil pressure is pretty steady at around 40 psi. (I can't confirm right now because all the gauges are disconnected while I wait for my BIL to paint my hood and instrument panel.)

I wonder if an oil passage is blocked?
Erratic oil pressure

An oil passage being blocked is the worst case scenario and my biggest concern. Sounds like a major ordeal. Has anyone ever had that problem, and if so, what did you do about it?

I think you are worrying over nothing. Where are you checking the pressure, near the engine oil pump or near the hydraulic
pump? If you have good pressure near the hydraulic pump, put your fears to rest.

I suppose you could also pull the rocker cover off and make sure you have oil to the rockers. If that line was plugged, it
could possibly cause the pressure to be a little high.

I have the tester attached where the gauge would be at the end of the copper tube. I do hope I'm worrying over nothing. If that passage to the lifters were blocked I'm guessing there's no easy fix.

Not a Tractor but I had a GMC Sonoma with the 4.3 V6 that had 90 psi oil press. I checked it with a separate gauge to be sure and it also showed 90 psi. I sold it with 170K on it the engine ran great but the body fell apart.

About how long was it running at 90 psi? It's looking like I'm gonna just run it as is and hope for the best.
