hit and miss model e engine

Hey guys,
I posted a message a while back about a model e hit and miss engine that I was getting from my dad. I dug it out of his tool shed and brought it home. Did some cleaning on it and realized that it does have fire. put oil and gas in it and after a while got it running! Now it starts really easy but I think there is a leak between the gas and oil reservoirs. Is this any big deal to fix? Looking for advice.

There is a sheet metal plate between the crankcase and gas tank. It has a tendency to rust through over many years. Unbolt the base and make yourself a new plate using the old one as a pattern.

Andy, There is a company that sells reproductions and gasket sets for these old engines. Look up Hit and Miss Enterprises and download their catalog. They carry parts , new and used, for many different makes of flywheel engines. Jim.

Once apart hold it up to daylight and find the pin holes. You can braze or JB weld those shut or find new reproduction pans, gaskets and gas tanks from a number of sources vendor sponsors at smokstak.com like Hit & Miss or Starbolts plus others.
