Can the pins on 3 point implements be turned if the arms on the tractor don"t open wide enough to connect the implement?

A lot depends on what your working with. I have seen on some where one pin pointed out and the other pointed in or both in or both out. So if you have the bolt on type of pins yes on some stuff you can point them in so as to narrow your hook up

I've made that work, but it's more awkward and depends on the implement as said.

Typically cat 1 is the narrower setup for up to 70 hp or so tractors, and cat 2 is the wider setup for bigger tractors. If you are trying to fit a bigger implement to a smaller tractor, you need to check pin diameter and general hp needs, etc. There are adaptor pins that fit the big bolt hole but have cat 1 pin size, etc.

May take some tinkering.

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions...will take those things mentioned into consideration..again thanks for your help to all those that contributed valuable information to my question.

A JD tractor might be a problem. If you have sway blocks; then you might not be able to swing the arms in enough to get over the pins.
