Homemade Weight Box

I didn’t think I would ever need one of these but a have read on several different sites that they do give you the extra weight that helps when using the FEL so I had this old metal box that was just sitting under my shop lean to growing spiders! I have NO IDEA how much it weighs but I googled for information on weight of 80 lbs of concretes mix, mixed with water and cured and it was 85-90 lbs. So I’m going to say that the metal box with the concrete cured should be about
450 lbs. I was doing some other researching on the weight and came across a formula that makes more sense than the other one. It says that to determine weight, you need to measure the concrete cured area in feet , so my box is 1.75’ L x 3’ W x 1’ T. Then x 150. Using that formula that I believe puts the weight at about 800 lbs. Now I have not gone out and measured it yet so I’m going to do it tomorrow morning and see how it goes. I don’t have a good way to measure the weight but I will check with my 2 sons in law and see if they have any suggestions on how to get it weighed! Just really curious about what it may weigh!

Hey to all the members who have been interested and involved in my projects, I appreciate your interest, support and especially your advice and suggestions. I enjoy the opportunity to share with others and to learn from each other. That to me has been the best part about the internet community. The internet has shown two sides, the Best Side is how we can share and support each other. But we have all seen how the internet has gotten very bad in so many ways. To me this is not a political statement but a very important social statement!
The fact that people have been using it to scam people and to manipulate young people into being victims of a crime against them, is just sad that we live in such a sinful world. Because those people who are doing this, they will have their day when they are answering to our lord and savior!

According to the google search, multiple in feet, the length, width and height or thickness of your concrete then multiply the results by 150 which is the density of concrete, so (L x W x T) = concrete mass x 150 = total weight is mass. Now, I am not saying that the formula is 100% correct but I think it’s possible that it is correct. I have seen another way is that a 60 lbs bag is .45 cuft and 80 lbs bag is .60 cuft, so cured concrete weighs 150 lbs per cuft.
.45 x 150 =67.5 lbs and.60 x 150 =90 lbs. Hope this helps!

I was doing some other researching on the weight and came across a formula that makes more sense than the other one. It says that to determine weight, you need to measure the concrete cured area in feet , so my box is 1.25 L x 3’ W x .833 T. Then x 150. Using that formula that I believe puts the weight at about 468.75 lbs. Now, I have measured it and corrected my calculations. I don’t have a good way to measure the weight but I will check with my 2 sons in law and see if they have any suggestions on how to get it weighed! Just really curious about what it may weigh!

Do you have access (or know anyone with) cattle load bar scales sort of like these? My set can weigh 2000Kg = 4400lbs

I don’t think so. But I am going to talk to my two sons in laws about it. One is a farmer and the other owns a Large Welding business. I am hoping they may have a way to help me get it weighed. I am sure my son in law that is a farmer may have access to getting it weighed.

Is there a scrap hard near you? If so call and talk to them, they might weigh it for you.

About $55.00 for a set of VEVOR 1 ton hanging scales.

If there is a grain elevator scale or a truck scale near you, load the weight into your truck (or tractor) and weight the two together, unload the weight, weigh the empty vehicle and subtract the difference.
