hood question

i took the hood off my 2n and wasnt fun to do alone is there any way to modify it to just pivot up on the front bolts or is the gas tank always gona make it tuff it deffinitly lot nicer working on it with hood out of the way. just figure id ask

No easy way to make it pivot. Easier to remove if you drain the gas tank. I usually remove the grill first.

Maybe you can do like I plan on doing with my 8n Funk . Write Marvin Baughman & ask him how he did his 8n . But of course the gas tank will need supported in some way . My thoughts , hope it helps . God bless

With the radiator sticking up and out of the hood next to impossible to do that. There are ways to make it easier things like an over head hoist etc help a whole lot and if course 2 people make it a snap.

W/ enough time & money, you could do it. On the rare occasions I've had to remove a hood, it's not worth it to me.

BTW, you're not removing the hood to replace the points are you?

I use a sling and an engine hoist. That works well. I used to remove the hood by hand by my self. Getting to old for that now and will either hurt myself or drop the hood and dent up the sheet metal.

i took the hood off to install my 12 volt convervsion and wanted to fix alot of cobbed up stuff from previous owners tractor has a loader which is also in the way

I agree with you. Seems like a design flaw. Should had been made that way. I remember some time back someone posted a picture of one they converted to do that.
