Hood removal

I am the new owner of a Ford 8N. Not positive on the exact year but am guessing it"s between 1948-1952 due to the side mounted distributer?

My question is how does the hood come off....please don"t laugh! What I "think" I know is that it tips forward towards the front of the tractor. I have removed the screws and bolts around the dash, four of them and one side screw from the drivers side of the hood. I keep catching the dash frame with the bottom of the hood when I try to raise it. It seems to me that it shouldn"t be this hard to raise the hood and I don"t need to bend up my sheet metal anymore than it is. My I&T manual doesn"t mention the hood and my other Ford manual is in the mail but I want to get working NOW! Sprung a coolant leak brush chopping the other day and I need to get to my radiator ASAP.

I traded a Harley Sportster for this tractor and some implements and so far am having the time of my life working with it. Not ready to give up my other Harley quite yet but am enjoying the ride on both this summer! So thanks for not laughing as I feel like a fool having to ask this question!

1.) Shut off gas (HOPEFULLY tank will be nearly empty).

2.) Disconnect gas line.

3.) Remove radiator cap, 4 bolts at back of hood and 2 bolts from front "doglegs".

4.) Lift off complete hood/gastank assembly as it is NOT designed to tip forward. as you are trying to do.

Joe , my wife and I stayed at a b/b in findley Lake on the 28 of june , was on our way to Canada to visit some of my wifes kids/grands , stopped over for a memorial service in Clymer for a old friend on Sunday hauled it hard to get into Canada that night, terrible rain storm on the truway to Buffalo, miss the country in NY in the summer but I dont miss the winters, found a old tractor like my Dad had on the farm got it running great, it great having things that are like what dad had as a TOY, and wishing he could ride it 1 more time with you, But all I have now are the rememories!!!
