i have a 6 volt positive ground tractor. the question i have is i have 3 6 volt lights that i want to hook up to what kind of switch? i want 2 light in front and 1 in back. now the lights only have 1 wire coming out of them. With this tractor being positive ground do i hook the 1 wire up to switch for ground and the positive will be the bolt that mounts the light to the machine? so i'm kinda confused about the positive ground concept or do i hook up the lights as you would in a car or truck? what type of switch do i need? do they make a special one for turning on front lights and not back one or vise versa the back one on and others off? is someone could please help and give me a diagram of what i'm supposed to do is greatly appreciated.

You're reading too much into the pos ground stuff. It's the same thing as neg gd the post as ground and the wire to hot which just happens to be negative battery pole.----lha

go to n space tractor space club space and look under how to's wiring pictograms by JMOR very easy to follow. by the way take the word space from between the 3 words up top. Couldn't give you the web site like it should be.

Electrictium has no care which way it runs thru a switch.

All a switch does is break one of it's ways to ground.

It would be more PC to break the hot going to it, but on a PG that would be the - .

Duramax.......did you know electrons don't know or care whether yer tractor is positive or negative ground??? And can be both at the same time. That is why it is called ground.

Me? I recommend an additional ground return wire from inside each headlite shell to the engine block for certain ground 'stedda' relying rusty sheetmetal joints.

As a general rule, ya want yer switch in the "hot" side of yer wiring before it gitts to yer lites. And you need as many switches as you have circuits to lite.

Yes, you can gitt replacement push-pull headlite switches that will have a circuit for just the headlites and a seperate contact for yer tailite.

And most Ford rear plowing lites have built-in lite switch that you hafft provide power to.

And what ever you do, DO NOT wire yer headlite switch thru yer weaksister ignition switch. ......Dell, the switcher

thank you all for the help and the biggest the understanding that's why i have to ask stupid question, because stupid questions end up being smart choices...

Duamax. Think of Electricity as water. It doesn't care which way it flows through a valve and electricity doesn't care which way it flows through a switch. The only time polarity is a concern is when you are dealing with polarity sensitive components like DC motors and generators. In solid state components which most of these tractors don't have then you have polarity to deal with but for the most part here, polarity doesn't mean a thing except which pole of the battery to hook to the frame and which goes to the systems of the tractor. KISS. Keep IT Simple. I have more respect for the all the people here than to finish it by calling anyone Stupid but that's what the last "S" stands for.
Only trying to help. LarryT
