Hose connections

I just rebuilt my 3600 power steering pump. Put new seal on shaft to stop fluid leaking into crank
case. One of the cylinders was leaking so I removed both. Put new seals in and just got
everything back on the tractor. Started the tractor with reservoir full, expected turning to be easy.
Feels like no fluid is present! Could I get the lines crossed? I?m thinking I should have marked
before removing!
Before everything was working fine, just getting fluid in the oil and one cylinder had small leak
under pressure.

If that is the case, I need to know correct orientation. On the 3600 I need to know left side top
hose connect to cylinder inside or outside. And same info for right side.

Thanks, so both sides should be the same?
I didn?t think, guess I should have ask for a schematic for power steering cylinder connection.

Just checked mine and both sides has top connected to inside of cylinder! Before change I would
like to see a schematic for the 3600.

Well that didn?t fix problem. All
Top lines were on inside fitting of cylinder. I moved them to outside. Can?t turn steering wheel. Any suggestions?

Sorry, I didn’t think about the two sides being different. Please excuse my poor line drawing skills.

Looks like the right side top goes to the outside and the left side top goes to the inside.

Again, sorry.

Thought I downloaded pics.

That?s on a 3000? Guess same for 3600. I have top to outside on left side. I?ll move top back to
inside on the right.

Sorry I just stated all that backwards ☹️. Lines are inside on left! Moving outside on right.

You can ALWAYS disconnect the end of the cly's and see which way they move.

That way, if one or both is/are backwards, you can quickly see the problem and change the lines around. If they dont move, or go all the way to one end and stay, you have the crush washer too tight, too loose, or other problems in the valve assembly.

first time I rebuilt one, I had the springs and valves shoot out all over the shop... a hard lesson learned.

"first time I rebuilt one, I had the springs and valves shoot out all over the shop... a hard lesson learned."

Ha Ha. My experience the first (and only) time I dismantled a Oldsmobile hydramatic transmission.

Well, I’ve been told it takes character to admit when you’re wrong so, what does it take to admit you were wrong TWICE?

I was working in the shop today and thought I’d look at the lines on the tractor instead of pictures. The top lines on both sides go to the inside of the cylinders on both sides.

Sorry fellows.

Thanks! That?s how I originally had them. Guess I
have something else wrong. I?ll try disconnecting the
tie rod and see if the cylinder moves in the correct
direction.
