Anybody here use a HOT ROD? Helping my cousin tune up his baler yesterday and came across a stuck nut on the twine disc worm. Hand-held unit with interchangeable coils to magnetically heat the nut in seconds. Plug in and push a button.

I too have seen them advertised and marveled at how they worked. There are times when the hot wrench,(acetylene/oxy) just is too much or too dangerous, but with their price tag and the few times it seems I need it, I have passed on purchasing. NOW, I fully appreciate the odd ball wrench or tool that I have, you use once in a blue moon but gets you out of a jam. I should just put aside MY CHEAP, TIGHT mindset and buy one. I'd probably use it in short order. lol gobble

We have one at work. On big bolts I think oxy/ acetylene works faster , but these work where a torch would be a bad idea.
For automotive use by plastic and fuel they're much safer.
Also a quick quench with water will make a big difference loosening it up.

I've used one, worked great. At the time they were incredibly expensive but now they can be had for $150-$200. I just might order one just to have around.

After years of thinking about one I bought one back in December and absolutely love it. Use almost weekly and found it to better than my torch 75% of the time. Now don't get me wrong there is a place for a torch bit this thing is handier than I ever imagined!

Said he paid about 200 for it. The one from HF is pretty much identical. He didn't clean out the baler after last season (for which he was scolded) and not a good spot to use a torch.

I have a Bolt Buster brand induction heater that's about 10 years old. I don't know how I spent 20 years of my career without it. It has cut way down on torch usage, which is great since torch fuel is ridiculously expensive now. Plus, it's safer for my employees and keeps me from having to stop what I'm doing to heat bolts for them.
