How do I remove this piece from my cub?

The triangular piece in this photo. I need to install a new seal however it won't come out. I thought removing the three bolts would allow removal but it's not budging.

I needed to remove just the oil seal. I thought I'd need to remove this plate to press it out. I found a seal puller in the bottom of my tool chest that I had bought years ago and never used it. Was still in the packaging. I tried it and sure enough seal pulled right out.

To answer the question you asked, there is an o-ring that seals that part to the transmission case. It makes the part harder to remove. You probably need to pry the part at the edges to get it out. You may need to rotate it a bit to break it loose or to get an edge you can pry on. Be very careful that you don't break one of the ears off by prying on it.

To give you the actual answer you need: The seal goes in from the outside. You should be able to pry the seal out and drive in the replacement without removing the triangular piece.
