How is planting/Spring activities coming?

How far along are we on planting, drilling or Spring tillage? We have not yet started on anything in NE Indiana, but I know a Southern Indiana farmer who is all done planting beans and purt' near done with corn planting as well.

Nothing here in Michigan that I know of. There might be a few potatoes planted somewhere, but I haven't seen it.

Corn is spiking thru and beans should be up in a day or two on our show gounds. Will have 20 acres of each to harvest in September. This is at the Effingham Co. Fair grounds, Altamont Il. Mill Road Threshermen nnalert.

Nothing planted except the garden. Drilled orchard grass in hay field in thin spots 2 weeks ago. Been cool [good] but stinking dry [bad]. Existing grass looks really good.

Things are starting around here, southern MN. Some small grains are up, lots of fert applied, the early birds have 100s of acres of beans and corn planted. Some of us with wetter or colder dirt are seeing if we get anything planted before Thursday evenings rain.

It might be 90 degrees in a couple days, it was 26 degrees yesterday morning. A bit of a temp roller coaster around here.

They are going hard west of you.

I saw a 12 row planter south of Clara City yesterday. It looked out of place next to the 36 and 48 I see out here.

I haven't got anything planted yet except onions back in Feb. Every time the weather is conducive, I have an on-call job to go do, then when I finally get some free time, the weather is bad and can't till nor plant.

My winter crop is ready to cut and bale when it quits raining....no big rush!

Conversely, summer crop field prep was complete and about a week ago, with rain forecasted for the next day, I installed my fertilizer....we got 2 1/4".....much needed and the freshly plowed field sucked it all up best I could tell. Waited several days and with rain in the forecast, but with warmer weather and lots of sun shine, the field dried out just enough for me to get the sorghum-sedan planted (drilled). It rained on it yesterday, sun came out and raining again today....... with more in the forecast all week.

Moral of this story and you all know it quite well, you need to keep tabs on "mommy nature" and play her violin to your benefit, not hers.......then when it all done you can sit back, and say AAAAAAAAH!

Almost 5 inches of rain the last day of March caused more damage to bean stubble than I have seen since hurricane Agnes June 1972. On April 10 I started moving dirt, and worked at it for about a week. It started raining again on about the 16th, but I was mostly done, and then worked with the backhoe, as we go 2 more inches of rain. It was 23 degrees here this morning, 21 was the lowest around the area (central Finger Lakes)
Last year this kept up through May, so that we didn't plant anything until June. Then the rain shut off.
