How many 1755 Olivers were built, diesel, gas and maybe L.P.? Were some models better than others like any improvements, I had a 1555 diesel that was nice but hard to shift and only the 2 speed transmission so i think i would like the 1755 diesel better

The 1655 had the three speed option; and was probably more popular. Also had a helical gear transmission like the 1755

Can't say for numbers, but I've had both 1755 diesel and 1655 diesel. Loved them both. If you don't need the horse power and/or weight, the 1655 is a very nimble and capable tractor, and has the over/under Hydraul-Shift like the 1755. However, if you use hydraulics a lot (like on a loader) the 1755 hydraulics are far superior in stock form. If you put an external spool valve plumbed to the PowerBeyond on the 1655, it's pretty darn good too.

I can't think of any major improvements to the 1755 over the years, but there were little things like hydraulic cooler/charge pump being engine-mounted high, then low, then internally in the rear end, the dash changed a little bit with the key and fuel shutoff moving to the sides like the Whites. 3-point arms changed a little to be easier adjusted. That's about all I can think of off hand.

Another thing to consider is the 1755 is more complected in many ways (examples are hydraulics, PTO, and brakes), so if you want simplicity, the 1655 might be the way to go.

Either way, I doubt you'd be disappointed with whatever you end up with!
