How much did it freeze?

Last night there was no frost in this field, the combine got stuck right there after dark last night. By 2:00 this afternoon he took out all the beans and drove right through without leaving a track. Was able to plow for a bit this morning, but by 2 it had frozen enough that I had to quit.

How could it freeze up that fast with the sun shining? No sunshine here. We had a foot of heavy wet snow. It drew out any tiny bit of frost. And it's snowing again. Acts like winter has set in.

Will you continue to rent that field? How far is it from your new place? You could be like a real BTO and spend lots of tractor time on the road!

This field is actually closer to the new place than old, about 2 miles. I will plant it again next year because I made an agreement with the owner, and I'll honor my commitment. But that will be it for this piece. This guy is WAY nuts! Lol. I'll be so glad to leave this behind.

As for frost, it was 8? this morning and topped out at about 20? today. I'm sure the beans had insulated the ground some and once they we're gone it didn't take much.

We?ve got 6-10? in the Stearns/ Meeker area. Had to trench through 10? in the driveway to find the power line break on Friday.

Also, I have the tires mounted backwords on my combine. Never get stuck. Drive in as far as you can and can always back out.

We had 4 inches of snow Friday and saw -7 on the pickup thermometer Saturday evening.

A few folk with big tractors and small rippers were working until then.

We're at -3F and dropping at 6:20am. Have had 3" to 4" of snow on the ground for nearly a month....maybe a bit more.
