how to fix my tachometer

I have a 6710 which was recently overhauled now i want to check its hourly operation,now the problem is my tachometer, i already changed the cable and the adaptor to the oil pump, the tachometer gives me different readings from 50hrs. to 200hrs. even the tractor only operated 8hrs..how can i fix this?

replace it cheaper than fixing the old one

Cheapest fix and easiest to do , add an Hour Meter . Just wire one in with the ignition switch . Cheap and easy to do . But dont leave the switch on and go on vacation !! LOL
