that is amazing. probably the most amazing operator I have ever seen in real life would have to be kenny Mclain (I think that is how you spell his last name)out of Blythewood, South Carolina. He can set on his backhoe for two hours while digging a pool and get off and only be an inch to shallow. I checked the deep end of the pool for him which is about fifteen to fourteen feet below him and he was only two inches off

Yeah, totally not a fake photograph. There are, literally, hundreds of albums around the internet showing how this is done. Theres a company that specializes specifically in making the reinforced hoe, the outrigger pads and the bucket slider to enable them to do this safely and repetitively. A good operator is only part of the equation.

The Rail road has several of those hoes that is how they unload the ties around here for replacing them I used to load hoes like that on a trailer lot faster than ramps it has special out riggers and clamps on bucket

Saw that done once at a coal fired power plant. If ya look around the internet there are pictures of more than one guy doing that. Couldn't get me to do it, but hey if others want to try I'll watch.

I work for the Union Pacific and have seen this done many times. They also move from one rail car to the next. Usually to unload rail ties and sometimes to unload sub ballast.

Thats pretty darn neat. I"d never ever have guessed people did that, I work with backhoes and have seen some neat stuff but that is probably the most interesting yet. I guess you"d always have three points down. I just want to know who figured out that it could be done. Sounds like a few operators drinking one Friday night, one says, "here, hold my beer, I got something to show you"

I"m a retired railroad locomotive machinist/
mechanic. I"ve seen plenty of backhoes on rail
cars, unloading ties, but didn"t know how they
got them up there. I presumed with a crane, but
yes this looks possible. And the ones I saw on
BNSF did have those attachments.

I think that loader has a slightly modified seat to handle the coconuts the fella has for balls. I do agree that that idea had to come from a couple of guys sitting around drinking. I bet someone bet him he couldn't do it!
