How useful is a quick hitch?

I've got a Saginaw 3pt hitch on my Farmall H. I use a two bottom plow and a 3pt disk. I've been curious about the quick hitches and came across one for $75 so I thought I'd give it a try. My question is how useful are they? Will it be something I'll use on a club plow day when we are shuffling and moving equipment around but not something you'd want to actually use disking?

Don't have one, but in my head I can't think of any 3pt implements here that I could actually use it with due to the way the top link hook is.

First of all, i think it's going to be to big for the cub,and it does set your inplement back about 3-4 inches, would u really want that on the your 1 bottom plow on your cub. It might work on your H Farmall, if it's the right catagory .

On larger implements they work good. To heavy to move to hook up. If your top link has a pin with the appropriate clearance it would be good if not then a pain. A 3 point makes it a pain, to get on and off the tractor.

I have one and it works okay for some applications. Got it from Northern Tool quite a few years ago. (20 plus) Two drawbacks I have encountered are you need adapter bushings on the 3 PT hitch implement pins and width of attachment can't vary much from standard. Mine started to bend from side thrust so I had to weld 1/4 inch plates on the outside verticals. Now I don't use much as it seems to be as much a pain as the old way. Looks like in the pic of yours it may not require bushings. Just my 2cents worth.

One thing to make sure of if considering a quick hitch is that all your implements are made to the standard Cat 1 dimension across the lower pins. I know not all are - I used to have a factory-made 5-ft disk that was about three inches wider than the standard 26" width so a quick hitch would not have worked. This is probably more of an issue with the "job shop" type implements that are commonly found in the Cat 1 size. I have quite a variety of Cat 1 implements and even though I'm not a particularly big guy I have no problems man-handling any of them into position for hookup so I've never felt that a quick hitch would be an advantage. Cat 2 and 3 stuff - now that would be a different story.
