mowed the lot at 1 farm.the corn there is needing rain badly but still looks good
i hope we all run out of bin space this harvest. last year really hurt us all

Looks good from the road. I've got some shoulder high, some that just came up Sunday after getting enough rain the Sunday before to sprout it. Got some that got knocked flat Wednesday in a big storm.

We don't farm anymore - but much of the corn we see while driving around, is over knee high BUT is reaching straight up to the sky... crying out desparately for rain.

Well the rabbits finally quit hauling a bale of hay and a canteen around with them now. Some is about 18 inches, and some is about 4 foot. In the same field planted the same day. Just been that dry. Supposed to get some tonight or tomorrow. Would like it to hold off for one day so I can spray the corn. Spent most of the day putting on drop nozzles so spry doesn't get in the whorl. Beans if I get my seed back will probably be lucky.

What part of Nebraska?

Here west of Lincoln, dryland is pretty much done for. We've had several inches of rain in the last few days, but I think it's too late. We drove from Lincoln to Hastings today and it all looks about the same. Irrigated looks like you'd expect, but dryland is definitely hurting.

Neighbor's corn looked very sad, 2 -3 ft tall
After last week's rain, it shot up, 6-8 ft tall, and is now making tassels. I've never seen corn grow so fast.. Weather guesses are predicting many chances of showers.
What's the saying, rain makes corn? Corn makes whiskey.

Our corn on the north side of Lake Ontario is waist high and better. We have been getting a bit too much rain for any fields without drainage tiles, but every year more and more land gets drained, and we see less acres of corn turning yellow from wet feet.

Looking good up here. interesting what must be GMO seed as all the plants are the same short stalks, have the same 2 ears per stalk, both in identical places on all plants. We had ample rain this spring.

On ample rain, Crepe Myrtle trees must love water as my Crepe's branches are ready to break with all the flowers. Hard to see any green for all the flowers. I have several colors, liking the deep red the best and really make the place look good this time of the year.....but never had this many flowers.

On another side note, a couple of months ago the butterflies came by (as usual, especially the little Tomato Worm green one with the yellow dot on the wings), and now I have Junipers full of Bag Worms again. Trees are 30' tall making it hard for me to spray them without getting it on me.

Not so here in mid western Ontario.....a pocket in this area has only about 1.5 inches of rain since June 1. Corn is variable height, from 6 inches to waist high and much onion leafing after this past week's 90 plus heat. We need rain....bad.

After getting almost 6 inches of rain last week it sure has taken off, like george said grew 3 foot and now fully tasseled. Finished corn planting 4/19 this year, early for this area. Sweet corn will ne teady in a week.

The corn here that has irrigation looks great. The dry land corn is really bad.We have had no rain since June 1st
