HTP has the 130 mig on sale for $399 on their website. Strictly hobby projects and personal equipment repairs only- duty cycle means nothing, I've got plenty of time. Just want a rig that does a good job at reasonable price.

Any thoughts on this welder?

I don't have any personal experience with their equipment. I have read reviews of their customer service, and equipment for years on other forums. Can't remember reading a bad word. Do remember people being very satisfied with the customer service!

Hi Mike,

HTP stands for Hungarian Technical Products, or something like that. Their welders and automobile body tools are robust and well designed. I've never read about anybody who had one of their welders who didn't like it, and people generally rave about the friendliness and helpfulness of the people at HTP America.

See if they'll send you a video of their products. I have one from about ten years ago. It's fun to watch just to see the clever features they have worked into their higher end GMAW welders. I think it cost a few bucks for the video, but maybe they're on You Tube now.

Merry Christmas,

Stan

Bought a replacement MIG gun from them a while back for one of my Systematic units. Paid less than half price of what Systematic wanted. So far I am well pleased.

I've heard nothing but good things about them also. I don't have any hands on experience with their welders though. They appear to be built like tanks and if I needed another welder I'd buy one right now.

Real Nice people.I have one of their 160 MIGs thats copper wound and I like it a lot.Runs smooth and does a good job.
I dont know about the 130,but if its anything like the 160 it is good.
The only drawback is that my welding supplier doesnt have any tips and Orschlens doesnt sell tips that will fit.So I have to order them.It only takes 3 days to get them usually by UPS.I have found them at a place about 60 miles away, but I usually am not in so big of a hurry that I cant wait for a couple of days from Chicago.
You can buy a Tweco gun that fits your welder from them ,probably, and get tips anywhere. They sell parts for other MIG welders and Plasma cutters, and other stuff.
I have run out of stuff several times on a Sunday, and called them and ordered rolls of wire and tips and got them Tuesday afternoon.I even bought a spool gun like that from them.
