Husqvarna 129L string trimmer

My string trimmer died while running shortly after filling with gas. Gas fill doesn't seem to have caused the problem though. I have no spark at all. I removed the wire to the kill switch, still no spark. I have never had a coil just go bad all at once but don't know what else it could be.
Any thoughts?

On my 35 year old Shindaiwas, if the plug connection for the kill wire gets oily and dirty enough at the coil, it will loose spark. Try cleaning with spray carb cleaner. So far in 35 years, I haven't had to replace a coil on either one.

Did you clean the coil real well? Dirt and oil can cause it to ground out spark and removing the wire will not correct it. BTW, not saying your coil isn't bad. Just sharing what my very old trimmers have done. I have a 20 year old new coil in the box that I have yet to use.

Before you order a coil assembly, my trimmers have a small square box with a wire to it mounted on the outside of the engine (not under the flywheel), this is what I clean. Because it is no longer available, they don't name it. Look up Shindaiwa T-20 parts and check E-5 under flywheel and coil parts. Hope this helps.
