Im Attempting to break down the hyd cylinder from my JD 420 crawler. I removed the rod but i am unable to remove the spline shaped nut on the end that holds the seals. I used alot of leverage but cant get it to budge. Oiled it and heated it but it appears to be made of a soft metal. Cant get a socket or wrench to fit properly.Any advice with this procedure before i bring it to a shop? Thanks

Yes! take it to a shop before you damage the piston and or rod and it cost you at lot more. They have all correct tools to do the job right. I have worked with the people who do this for a living and even they can make a mistake and ruin a cylinder now and then.
