Just bought 3020 diesel powershift going through everything changing filters, fluids and all the other misc. things in general. My question is why is there such a price difference between tractor supply 303 oil and john deere hy gard oil.A $33.00 difference in 5 gal. buckets. Is JD that much better with additives and such hopefully some one can chime in and help me make a dicision Don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish but I do look for value. Want what is best for tractor don't want any problems down the road with friction and all .TIA Mark

I know that if you put poor quality hydraulic oil in a 3010 or newer the brakes can wear out prematurly and chatter alot. I had a neighbor who put Farm and Fleet hytran in his JD 4450 and the brakes chattered so much he had to drain it out and flush it. Then he put Shell Donax TD fluid in it and it solved everything. I know its alot of money to purchase good oil and I understand your point of view. But on the other hand what does it cost to overhaul a transmission these days? TimS would be a great person to ask

That differance seems greater then what I thought it was ? Doesn't TSC and Rural King offer 2 different types of that oil ? one higher then the other ? And I like to buy my JD oil when they have a spring sale or at an open house.
Either way even at $33.00 x 2 or 3 buckets you are only at 1 hour or 1.5 hours of labor to fix what problems that oil may create so I don't see how you can gain anything ? It doesn't have to be done that often so it only hurts the pocket book now and not for several years unless you really run it alot.
