Hyd lift

I have a 1950WD,I bought some silage bales fer the deer .The man told me they weigh 1200 pounds.My WD won't lift them with the bale spear on the back,will lift the 7ft disc no problem (which is a bunch lighter).Should it lift these bales or am I asking too much of the old girl.Also if it should lift it any idea how much to have it rebuilt.

1200 lbs even close to the tractor is more than enough to pick the front end off the ground. Mine did it for a while, but now it cuts out before it gets that much pressure up. Without some weight out front, you won't be able to steer.
