hydra lectric control unit-Oliver 1600

I need to remove the hydra electric control unit from my Oliver 1600 so I can remove the lever assembly to paint it and replace the wiring in the levers. I removed the 12 bolts and the two nuts from the studs according to the manual, but I cannot get the unit to budge. Am I missing something?

I'm not acquainted with the 1600, but think you might have to remove the PTO shaft out first.

Assuming you're removing the valve unit from the top, Look for a couple more bolts. It's the same as the 15/1650 and I think there are 14. Two are in a recess on the top and hard to find under the crud. The gasket really hold it down. I used an old wood chisel ground to about 15 deg. with the flat side to the surface of the lift housing. Work all around with the chisel a little at a time till the gasket gives. PATIENCE.

You've probably got it by now, but Mike's right. There are 14 bolts. 13 short bolts around the base, one long bolt through a thicker part, left side near the back. There are two adjusting screws with lock nuts sticking out of the left side. The front one is out on the casting, then there's a recess in the casting, the second screw is in there. The long bolt goes down through the top just ahead of that back adjusting screw.

If you haven't got it off yet be prepared for a small flood of fluid when it comes off. Six places where oil flows between the valve and lower housing and the valve drains there. Tricky part is getting the forks to line up with the valve spools. I wired the two levers to the three point lever and positioned it to keep them in while I lowered the valve on.
