Parts stores tells me FA oill is all they can get, no more A. Will FA work Thank's

The substitute is regular transmission fluid. FA will work, but the mercon III is supposed to be the substitute.

Our 1600 is running Perma-Tran 821XL (AGCO's hy-trans type fluid) and there is no issue with switching them over. Might want to fill, run, & drain it a few times though unless it's a complete rebuild just to get most of the old transmission fluid out.
