can any on e give any info and pics. on how to change the pressure relief valve i was planning to change the hydralic fluid and wanted to know how hard it is to chang this valve. thanks

lift arms have been kinda jumpy under load hope this helps my problem but im getting an second opinions.

Given what little description you have provided, I doubt that the pressure relief valve is the problem.

Take the inspection plate w/ the dipstick off. Lift a heavy implement & look inside w/ the tractor running & the PTO engaged. A weak pressure relief valve can be detected by turbulence in the oil. To check for a slow leak, lift a heavy implement, turn the tractor off & put a ½ inch clear plastic hose on the end of the valve & stick the other end of the hose through the inspection port. With pressure in the pump, a bad valve will likely show some fluid in the hose.

When the N lift is jerky coming up it means that one or more of the four pump cylinders is not pumping. It can be caused by broken springs in the pump chambers or a broken Scotch yoke in the pump that the pistons are attached to. Either one means the pump will need to be removed from the tractor to fix it. That's when I would replace the valve.

But, to answer your question, yes you can remove the valve with the pump in the tractor. Cut off a 11/16" wrench to about 3 inches long to fit in the sump.

jumpy under load could mean a leak and regeneration.. usually once a relief gets weak it pops and then there is no more 'jump'.. it is exhausting oil at that point after it cracks.

I'd look more for a leaky gasket or piston seal..

( though I'd always suggest changing the relief valve if you get into one.. cheap and never hurts.. )
