Hydralic pump installation

Hi SG I had good luck making my pump gaskets out of the Felpro gasket material. I used a small ballpeen hammer to tap the edges and cut the gasket around the edge of the pump and the holes etc. Made two and they worked great using that material. No leaks. Just a item of ??? Devious

I use axle grease on all my gaskets , works terrific I have never had any problems.

Happy Tractoring

if they worked, that's great.
the lower gasket thickness is slightly important so you can get the pto shaft lined up thru the pump.. but close counts usually.

So you spent 2 hours+ of labor saving $2 ?

I am just curious as to how you justify that.

e be retired, Dunk, where 8 hours labor =$0

Unless you can show me where I saved 2 dollars I guess I am without an answer to what ever you said. I had a pump that needed to be installed THAT day without waiting for gaskets to be ordered and waited for. The revenue that was generated by not waiting seems to have overcome the money spent or not spent. Plus the customer wants further tractor work done in a few weeks. But then I am sure you will have another REAL GOOD comment to make about that also.

Naw Wrong again JMOR If you are talking about me. Got me mixed up with someone else. I am still in business with a 18 wheel flat bed hauling cranes and doing tractor work on the side . I will not be retiring anytime soon, if ever. 73 coming up in May. I have a new 5 year Comm Drivers Lic. so I have another 5 to go for sure, if I don t die, ya think?

That may help me understand some, JMOR, at least in theory.

So I now understand, it was just poor planning.

I have been there, and done that!!!!!

And I have done similar, just to avoid a trip to town, that would have taken up as much of my time, plus gas, and wear and tear.

You must be doing especially WELL for that age, just to be able to pass the eye exam.

Yeah I tried it for about a week. It was not my cup of tea. Guess I should have updated my history for your benefit. I really did not think it was at all worth the words. I am truly impressed with how the mundane can be so important at times. I usually let the sleeping dog just sleep. He might be having a nice dream and I know how I hate to wake up in the middle of something great and not get back to it.

(quoted from post at 10:57:44 11/02/10) Just have to wear my tri-focals No sweat with the eye exam.

I have a friend that can pass the automobile eye exam easily.

He says no way can he tell anything about the commercial eye exam, they took his CDLs, he has to now hire someone to move his heavy equipment, in his trucks.

Not a problem in Texas We don t even have a physical here if you just work intrastate. Just a Drug Card and the CDL. I run local so I don t even have to keep a log book. Don t know what State your friend is in but there are laws that protect folks from being denied livelihood. My CDL reqires me to wear corrective glasses and has for many years. Thats the reason for having restrictions on CDLs. If your friends eyes are corrected with glasses etc, he should not be denied a license if everything else is OK. But then some States are more backward than Texas is. I am a member of The Owner Operators and Independant Drivers Association and they have Insured me for many years. They would not do that if I were not legal. Tell "Your Friend" to call OOIDA at 1-800-444-5791 and talk to the Legal dept about his deal if he is interested in the real scoop. He can give them my member #249209 if he wishes Might help him if he wants to get his CDL back. BS is BS Dunk, where ever it comes from. Devious

Glad to see you back Devious Give em H3LL, now that we all spent ten dollars of time reading this, I am good my arms are still ong enough so I occasionaly need the +1 reading glasses.

Take care Ole timer.

Yep you can lead a horse to water but you can t make him drink, UNLESS you keep him away from water until he does drink from the thirst generated by the walks to and from the pond. Same way with being ignorant. Most folks don t know how ignorant I am until the time comes to tell them. Like JMOR says, I don t make this stuff up, it just lays there until it flows out in some form of waste, usually of time. but ocassionally in gaseous relief. I always won the water and the horse problem tho. I rode him to the pond after the first trip until he drank. Just how dumb did he think I was?
