I was plowing today with my to20 and noticed when i stopped at the gate that the lift would fall a bit then raise back up not much maybe an inch but made me concerned. I was wanting to do maybe a preventive rebuild of the pump this winter when the tractor isn't needed as much what are your thoughts on that? thanks for your imput robert.

Robert, you say you stopped at the gate. Did you shut the tractor off or leave it running? If you shut it off for a short time an inch would not bother me if you left it running I don't know why it would have dropped. Hopefully others will have a better answer for you.

it was running, im thinking maybe a small internal leak in the pump.

I would say that the added stress on the engine of stopping caused a very slight drop in pressure. If it is only an inch don't worry about. I'm suprised you even noticed it. You can do a quick test by turning off your tractor with an implement attached and see how long it holds. If it holds for <2min you have a leak, 2-5min maybe a small leak. >5 not a problem. (Note with a heavy implement such as a brush hog, the time maybe less). I suggest weighing the hassle of a rebuild or just letting it drop an inch when you stop.

It would at first seem that you have a leak on the system somewhere, but the hydraulics lifting like that is normal if you have the lever at the top and there is something that needs resetting. You need to make sure it is a leak or it may only be adjustment that is required. Raise the implement and put your foot on the clutch pedal, if there is a leak it will drop all the way to the ground, if it is an adjustment then it will drop just slightly and then hold at that point.
