Hydramotor checks

Hi guys. Learning many lessons here, like don’t disassemble things, wait 4 years, and expect to remember how it all went.

Anyone know how the check balls are supposed to go in? Ball first or spring first?

Parts book shows ball first but I’m just not sure.

I checked my 1550 parts catalog and I&T manual. Neither shows those check valves.

The ball goes in first. Spring holds it in place.
Pressure against the ball pushes spring to release.
