Hydraulic arms

Nute

Well I just finished cleaning the hydraulic/transmission sump and put her all back together now. Engaged the PTO and lifted fine, lowered the lever and the lift arms are setting on the axel, question is, should they be sitting on the axel when the lever is all the way down? Thank you gentlemen.

Most of the ones I have seen do. I don't think they did originally. Indicates wear in the controll mechanism. Should not be a problem except it chips the paint on the axle housing.

I agree.

probably wear / misadjustment. .however not a bad problem.

I'd be inclined to leave it, unless you are looking for an excuse to tear the lift cover off. if so.. go for it.

The range is for the "balls" in the lift arms to be from 8 1/2" above the ground to 34 1/4" above the ground for a total range of 25 3/4". If the arms are lower than 8 1/2" above ground & touching the axle housing, you can live w/ it, try the quadrant adjustment or pull the top cover.

If you are talking an 8N here they will hit if wear is present, but! When in draft control the arms drop a few inches lower than when in position control. If its an 8N try leaving it in position control and they may clear the axle.
