hydraulic capacity BD2F

Can anyone please tell me the capacity of the hydraulic fluid (in quarts/gallons) in a Mitsubishi BD2F dozer. Also, am I correct in that the hydraulic system uses 10w non-detergent motor oil as the hydraulic fluid? The hydraulic fluid in my dozer looks as if there is water in it. Any ideas about how water may have gotten in it? How do I flush the system? Thanks.

Someone correct me if Iam wrong. But based on your two posts I sounds like a oil/water heat exchanger may be leaking IMO

Kind of my thinking too. There is water in the hydraulic fluid...no water in the engine oil. The radiator uses about a gallon of water in 2.5-3 hours.
Where do I look to solve the problem?? Thanks.

Iam not sure of that system but I think that some guys on here would chime in I would think the blade and trany share the same oil? look for a line set going into the radiator or a tube bundle type cooler to start with

I checked the dozer today and don't see any place that water/oil cross....no tubes, hoses etc.
I ran it for about an hour and couldn't even get the temp gauge to rise...but it wasn't under any load. I didn't push any brush or dirt today.
Any other ideas??? Thanks.

You have any service manuels?
How is the crankcase oil? Head gasket? I would think you should had some temp rise even just idle should get 110-120 but some varibles due play in, mach.hours, temp outside, engine idle speed

Still trying to get a manual. There is no water in any of the three dip stick holes. The water in the hydraulic lines may not even be related to the radiator. I did fix a very small seep in the bottom of the upper radiator hose. I also did notice a small spot on the radiator that appears to have been soldered at one time. I guess enough steam could escape there to lower the collant level. I ran the dozer today and the temp never rose out of the green. I wasn't able to push anything or put it under a load because I have the tilt cylinder off to rebuild it. If I get that done tomorrow I'll get it back on and see what happens. The tractor runs super strong so I don't think it's a head gasket problem. I just bought this dozer and have been fixing the 'rigged' up electrical system, tightening and replacing bolts etc. I like my machines to be perfect (or as near as possible).

Well I have not been very helpful but talking thru a problem can be helpful I have eleven dozers of every make case,cat,JD.... but no Mitshi. thought some guys who do would?
