hydraulic chamber runs dry

i have a ford 4000 that has three different chambers one for transmission one for hydraulics and one for differential. My hydraulic oil goes to the transmission I don't know why? Any ideas?

If you have tubes that go thru the tranny to the rear chamber the high pressure side (probly) has sprung a leak. I have that issue with my 841. There is a chance you can replace from the pump side w/o splitting the tractor. Someone with experience may come along and explain better than I could.

as has been said.

sounds like you have the 4 cyl 4000
and there are a suction and pressure line that run from the pump thru the tranny tot he center section. 1 of the 2 liner perf and dump one sumps oil to the other.

If the suction perfs, trans drains to hyds.. if the pres line perfs.. hyds drains to trans.

The 2 repair modes are either to pull the perfed line, get a new line plank and have it machined to fit ( it is a stepepd diameter pipe ), or get some ?10mm? tubing, and a big set of industrial epoxy and coat the OD tube after checking fit and then 'sleeve' the tube.

the sleeve option is more of a bandaid.. and hias it's drawbacks as it reduces ID of the pressure pipe. also some chance it will not seal, or excess epoxy fouls the mating surfaces... on the other hand.. many have used this option and reported that it worked.

I havn't been lucky enough to do this repair yet.. however i hear it's doable with the front pump plumbing out of the way.

A tip from Hobo is to snatch the old tube by tapping the front of it with a suitable tap and then threading a bolt in there and snatching out.. etc.

your call.
