Hydraulic filter

Changing the hyd. Filter in my farmall 560 and do not have the oil filter retaining spring. Part number 374
997 R1. Any suggestions or place to get one? I'm using element 388084R93. Shouldn't there be a screen or
something to go into the big opening in the filter that faces the cover plate? Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you still had the old style screen type filter and are replacing it with the paper element. Yes, you need to plug that hole. It is a bypass valve with screen and a leaf spring on it to hold filter in place. You most likely will need to get one from a dealer unless salvage yard has some in your area.

I think I found one at a dealership. $34 plus shipping. We'll see if it is correct.
