Hydraulic Leak

I have a ford gas 4000 4 cylinders I am trying to fix a leak in the transmission, it is my hydraulics that runs dry so their is a leak in the line . How do I remove this line to fix or replace? I took off pump and manifold but don't know what is the next step since their is no pipe end to grab from so how can it be removed or what else do I need to do to remove pressure pipe? Thanks

I'll defer to the real experts here, but it sounds like you also might be a candidate to sleeve your hydraulic pressure lines. Read the other current thread "1955 641 hydraulic issue" Search for threads on this site with my nickname which may help you. My repair was on a 600/800 series tractor....don't know if 4000 is similar.

Search the archives here. It can be fixed a couple of different ways.

Some folks have inserted a smaller tube into the leaking one and coated the outside of the new smaller tube with epoxy before putting it in, and that has fixed it for them, although the hydraulics will be a little slower than original due to the smaller inside diameter of the tube.

Others have replaced the tube, but the tube is not available as a new replacement part any longer, and the outside diameter steps down at a couple of places along the length, so you would need to machine a new replacement tube or have someone machine one for you.

Someone posted a good idea for removing the tube, which is to use a tap to cut threads inside the end of the tube and then thread a bolt into the new threads in the tube and then use the head of the bolt to grab onto with a slide hammer or some other type of puller.

yep.. sleeve or have new ones made from blank stock then snatch and reinsert.

the tube is not a straight tube.. it is a stepped diameter tube a machine shop will have to lathe for you.
