Hydraulic lift

What would make my hydraulic 3 point lift only lift my implements about 1 inch off the ground but while in the up position if I rotate the lever under the seat ? I think it?s called the unloaded valve ? half way about 45 degrees from the lever being vertical to the lever being horizontal it picks up my emplements about 4 inches off the ground but when I let the unloaded lever back up the lift starts drifting back down. On this tractor 4 inches off the ground is my max height of the lift

I believe.. your talking about the draft/position lever. the little lever when in the up position, make the hydraulic control lever work in the """position"" mode, so that the lift works incrementally up and down with the the control lever. In the down position, the lift now works in the draft mode, meaning the when the control lever is dropped just a bit, the implement will fall all the way down, and then the dept will be controlled by the feedback on the toplink. A bit of extra drag on the implement, will push in on the top link, and the implement will raise a bit till the push on the top link is removed. And as the control lever is push down a bit more, it will take more pressure for the implement to lift... therefore you can run a plow as deep as possible, till the wheel just start to spin, then raise the control lever a bit to find the deepest possible plow position, and when the tractor goes through harder ground, the pressure will automatically raise the plow just enough to get through and then lower it again.

back to your original question, "in the draft mode",,, the lift will usually raise to max due the the rotation of the "cam" where in the position mode it cam is back off to the normal mode.

yes that is the lever Im am talking about My lift will not raise my set is disks off the ground unless that lever is manually held in the 45degree position Is it possible to make adjustments to this problem

I'll answer your question! You have worn or broken linkage or a severe misadjustment of same. Likely requires a lift deck removal and overhaul.
