Hydraulic Lines for Backhoe 1710

Gentlemen,
Bought a 3 point backhoe attachment for my 1710 yesterday. I don't have a remote, so I'm looking at direct hookup. Where do I tap in to get hydraulics to the BH?

I don't think that model has the capability of directly powering external implements without adding a remote valve. If it does, it should be mentioned in the Operator's Manual.

The loader valve on that tractor should have a power beyond port that goes to the rear port on the hydraulic block under the floorboard. You can disconnect that at the block and use that to supply oil to the backhoe and the return from the backhoe will go back into that port on the block. Use quick disconnects to make it easy to remove the backhoe and hook the hose back up as was standard.

Just to expand on Mark's comments.

Run two hoses to the rear and put your coupler there. Use a male tip on one hose and a female on the other. The hose from the loader valve is pressure out and the other is pressure return. Put matching couplers on the backhoe.

IMPORTANT!!!

Since thats the power beyond circuit it must be connected at all times and the engine must be shut off when connecting or disconnecting the hoses. When the backhoe is not connected loop the two hoses to each other. Failure to do so has real potential for damaging the hydraulic system.

You will want to be careful how you use the backhoe as the 3 point hitch backhoes put a lot of stress on the tractor and have been known to crack housings. Ford used to have a buckle up kit to help prevent that but I don't believe you would ever find one now.

Plus 1 on the stress on the 3 point, also the pump isn’t very big on these, I believe you’re gonna find the hoe operating very slowly

He didn't mention it having a loader, but if it does, then your suggestion will work.

If no loader you just use the block as the supply.

I syggest you read your owners manual. It should have a section describing the use and operation of the hydraulic outlet block.

As Joe posted it will be very slow. My first three point hoe had a PTO pump. When I traded that tractor on a new larger one I got a new hoe with it, that runs off the tractor hydraulics. It came also with sub fame. The new one operating off the tractor hydraulics is slower then the PTO pump was.

Thanks Gentlemen for the advice, however I found a Power Beyond Block that's meant to power a Backhoe. I know it'll be slow, but that's how the backhoes were attached when you bought a BH from the dealer without remotes. Parts catalog don't show it, but was a special attachment.

Why would you need or use such a block? Your tractor has one built in and all it requires is two hoses.run to the rear. Where and how does this block fit your tractor? I see three ports which presumably correspond to P, T, and N which is EXACTLY what you already have.

Backhoe speed depends on the backhoe. There are tens of thiusands of compact and small utility tractors paired to backhoes that run off the tractor hydraulucs. They sell like hot cakes to both residential and commercial users.

As long as the valve can handle the back pressure on the outlet port its just fine. I am sure you have installed many two port 3rd function valves as well as backhoe valves just lke the one on the OPs backhoe. Hoes were probably orange though .

The parts site says that it fits the xx00 models of the compact tractors, but not the xx10 models.

Probably because its not needed or used on the xx10 models which have a built in diverter.

I am with Mark -Its nothing but a diverter plate. If the relief valve cover is the same the ports and bolt holes will line up and it should work on a 1710. Why you would chose to purchase and use it escapes me. For the cost of that plate you could put two rear remote valves on the tractor and actually gain something.
