going to be putting in Oliver Super 55, how much will it take and what weight and brand name to use. Have been restoring. Thanks for all your help.

Do you have any other tractors? How much will it take ? The early ones take less oil than the later ones + a kit was available to increase the oil. So a serial number could help.10W -30 was the recommended oil for awhile so you could use that if that is what you use in the engine, if not a good hydraulic oil will work, There is no drain plug> You pump the oil out. Change the filter too. Late tractors use a different filter. Questions?

I've been running Mystic JT5 in my Super 55 hydraulic system for about 15 or 20 years now.

Serial # is 16276-518, it is a 1955 Diesel. You are saying 10w-30 oil is what I can use 9 to 11 quarts.

The manual list 6 quarts for unconverted tractors, 9 quarts for tractors with the extra capacity service kit, and 11 quarts for tractors with an external control valve.
It also states 10w-30 motor oil can be used year-round as a fluid.
