Hydraulic problem 1948 TE 20 Ferguson

When the hydraulic lift reaches maximum height with a 4 foot John Deere bush hog the three point system drops suddenly about 2 inches then remains in position after the engine is shur off.
I replaced the hydraulic cylinder, and piston as the cylinder was leaking as viewed through the left hand access cover. Replaced the control valve. I have installed a Zane Thang position control device which is great. Have the system set so that the lift will not reach maximum height so as to avoid the jerking small drop that occurs at maximum height. Looked through the access hole left side of tractor ahd the control forks move towards the rear of the tractor when the quadrant control is placed in the raise positon. A short back and forth jerk is noticeable in the control fork when the system is placed in the maximum raised position. This quick back and forth movement is the cause of the short drop in the 3 point system.

The system should work as follows. As the piston moves back to full travel, the piston skirt should push the control fork back and cause the control valve to move to the neutral position, thus holding the implement up. Check the following: make sure with the implement raised, you can rotate the master spring by hand; make sure the rear spring on the control fork is attached;make sure that the control valve is not binding in it"s sleeve.
John(UK) has a lot more experience with the lift system then I do so you might holler for him to give you additional advice.

Thank you for the reply. I did check with John(UK). I wasn't aware about the piston skirt pushing on the control fork--Your information is very similiar to what he sent me by e mail. According to John what I described is ok and the systsem is working fine.
Thank you again,
