Hydraulic Problem?

Pudelpointer

When pulling my blade over gravel, the three point on my 9N drops all the way down. However, it stays up fine when I have it all the way up. It also stays where I put it when I am pushing gravel in reverse. Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sounds like it is working right for a 9N...Only way to make a 9N/2N stay at the same level you put it is with limiter chains or a Zane Thang..

I assume that you are talking about the lever under the right side of the seat (with a bracket and wing nuts to set the blade level). If so, I set the blade to just the top of the gravel and it stays. When I move forward, the three point drops to the ground and the pitch of the blade increases greatly - all without my moving the DCL.

Am I missing something?

Get a Zane Thang - then you wil have position control. Draft control on a 9N will behave exactly as you describe. Pressure on the main control spring will cause the three point to raise. There is no position control on these tractors but it is very easy and cheap to add with a Zane Thang.

when I am trying to grade with my 9-N I just use the top link to adjust the cut. By shortening the top link one can make the blade stay at the level you want. As Dell would say " simple".
