Hydraulic Pump On A WD45 Engine

The plate in question is the cover plate on the side of the block covering the lifter galley.

The serail numbers behind the carb would be stamped into the block, not raised numbers from the casting process.

I changed the engine oil yesterday and I found the numbers stamped under the air-cleaner tube. The engine is from a Wd 45. Did I use the word oil, whatever was in the oil pan came out like molasses in January. The five quarts or whatever there was took about four hours to drain or better word drewal in a pan. The stuff was a grey color which I thought was moisture. I don't know how it had oil pressure. Almost like
very soft pudding. I changed oil in another tractor and dumped that oil in that engine and run it for awhile, still looks bad. That was the tractor that the previous owner said that it leaked oil out the rear main. I can see why it didn't leak when got it running. Engine is probably gone now.

I just picked up this WD that has a WD45 engine. I have been told that. I don't know much about an Allis Chalmers Wd or WD45 tractors as far as the differences. I believe the tractor is a Wd because of the straight transmission shifter.
I know one thing, this is a not a tractor for short old man. I almost fill off this thing twice already getting on and off. But now the question. This tractor has a hydraulic pump mounted on the rear of the distributor, has a New Idea loader frame for the reservoir and a two spool hydraulic valve mounted on the fender. Was this a popular set-up? I don't know if I am going to part the tractor out or keep it whole. I bought it for the nice 13.6 x 28" Firestone tires.
I got it running after cleaning the carb, has very good compression. Guy I bought it from said that it leaked oil from the rear main. The rear main leaked a little when I first started it but after running it about half hour, there is no leak at all.
Does anybody know anything about this pump and what else that it may fit?

Most likely an M&W that was used on Farmall's mostly. I bought one that fit and intended to use on my Allis B for a loader I bought. The pump was in bad shape and needed seals and one bearing. I took it apart and never ordered the parts. I bought one off a newer Farmall that I thought would work if I altered the block slightly. That block is still on a engine stand. If my measurements are correct I could cut a clearance hole in the block and place a plate on the inside of the block and have room for the pump. With the pump mounted the part of the block removed would never be able to be seen. I was planning another head scratchers for those that know it is not possible to have live hydraulic power on An Allis B.
