hydraulic repairs

Now a new problem in the on going saga of my 51 tea20.
I have got it running a lot better now. But the "New" problem is my loader. It goes up at a normal rate of speed but takes all day to come down.It worked fine before,if i wiggle the down control it will drop a little faster. Tank is 2/3rd's full.
This is a photo of my control's,can anyone explain whats going on? Thanks

It's difficult to really distinguish one pipe from another in your photo but I have had a similar experience of a customers problem and that was because he had piped up everything correctly but had run out of hose when he was completing the return side of the pipework. The only piece he had left was a smaller bore than the feed pipe....the feed pipe was 1/2" and the piece he had inserted in the return line was 3/8" without runing you and your installation down are you sure you have an unrestricted return ? Geoff

Since it is only a problem with coming down we can say that your pump is ok. I would suspect that some gunk has broken free from inside the lines (especially if you replaced the Fluid) and is clogging the release inside of the controller.

Have you checked that the oil is circulating through the Valve Block? Check this at the end of the hose that attaches to the Tank this will rule out the hose on the return. Are you sure that you have the feed and return from the same ram(s) to the same side of the Valve Block and they are not attached lift to one side and lower to the other side (it happens)....John

You should also check that the Valve Block does have a lift and a lower on one side of the block that you are attaching the double acting rams to. Just because the Block has two points of attachment on the same side does not always mean that it is a double-acting type, it actually depends on the spool that is fitted (how it covers and uncovers the holes inside) Sometimes they do use a standard block and just put a plug in one hole that isn't being used...John

Thanks for all the replys. Everything was working well before I had the tractor shut down for 14 days for repairs to the belt, carb. So I think it's a matter of gunk getting in the valve. The bucket tilt works normally.the control valve on the left is the lift valve that's acting up. I can take off the plug on top of the valve there is fluid there but it's level is low & doesn't pour out when it's off, [b:55cbdc84a7][u:55cbdc84a7]is it supposed to?[/u:55cbdc84a7][/b:55cbdc84a7] This valve is also very sticky right now.How do I get the gunk out of it if this is what the problem is?[/i]

It may not run out of that hole if you remove the plug, it will depend on what spool is fitted, if it is for single-acting rams it would not have any return or feed from more than one port on that particular valve. So the most likely thing is dirt, some of these valves have a restrictor that works when lowering, this has a small hole to control the flow of oil away from the ram so it wont drop quickly, this restrictor can become blocked if there is dirt in the system, I wouldn't like to think what it may do to the Pump though if that is the case...John
