Hydraulic three point issues

I have a 48 8N. Been slowly fixing it up and somewhat restoring it. Got engine running like a top thanks to 12v and electric ignition. Next up on the list was to adress the half working hydraulics. What I mean by that is when I engage the PTO the pto engages as it should, but the theee point arms start lifiting and never stop lifting. Once they max out and hit the “top” you can hear the engine load up and continue to try and lift the arms even tho they’re maxed out. I took the top lid of to find water contaminated oil. Drained the oil and took the piston out of the cylinder and ran a hone into the cylinder. With top lid off I noticed that when I push/pull the three point adjuster lever that the long rod which engages with the pump does not have much movement in it sitting on the bench. Thought maybe that was normal so I cleaned and reassembled everything with new oil. Fired tractor up and still same problem. I took the inspection cover off to move the long rod by hand but I couldn’t move it with my hands. So I blindly stuck a pry bar down into the oil and felt the little rod sticking out of the pump and pry it both ways and the three point arms still wouldn’t move. Don’t know what to do or what to look for now so coming here for some expertise. Sorry for long winded post lol

Try the easy adjustments first. Loosen the four bolts on the quadrant pate and try moving the quadrant fore and aft and see if that has any desired effect. The large main spring may be too tight. All of this is covered in the owners manual and the FO4 manual.

Did you disassemble and clean the valves? Had that problem with a 9N that had sat for many years un used. Valve stuck in the up position.

You were exactly right, dropped the pump, watched Rachel gingelles video on disassembling the pump and sure enough both of my valves were very sticky and one was even on the verge of being stuck. I just finished filling it with oil after pulling my hair out for 24 hours waiting for RTV to cure and started doing some testing and it works perfect. Goes up and down on command and stays at different heights without leaking down. Very happy camper I am!!
