Hydraulics Chattering

New to me 1968 Ford 3000 gasser. Everything worked great when I got it. Decided to change all fluids to make sure I had a base line. After changing the rear differential/hydraulic fluids the 3 point hitch wouldn't lift. Waited an hour and now it responds but it chatters all the way up. I have full motion but it is slow and jerky all the way up. Where should I start looking?

As I said, before changing the fluid to a standard UTF everyting worked great. Ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like there's still some air in the system. Work the lift up and down and maybe the air will work it's way out.

My 2000 was doing that and wouldn't lift during cold weather. I had air in the system. I put new O-rings in the suction line and pump body but it didn't help. Rebuilt the pump and gave it a good purge, works fine now.

Put a fitting in the plug on the pump head with a hose to the fill plug on the rear end. Let it run till there's no air in the fluid.

I agree with Hobo.
I had one here that I could not get to stop chattering.
Changed pump to a known good one. Put new orings on the lines, etc, etc.
Bled it and bled it.
Put air pressure into the rear end from the fill hole.
Cussed at it.
It would not lift right.
I took it out for a spin for about an hour and just tooled around.
When I got back it was working and stayed working.

I will second Udog and Hobo. I failed to mention that I still had a little chatter after the pump rebuild and bleed. I left it idling for about 20 minutes while I did something else. Worked fine when I got back to it.

I worked it a bit yesterday but not long. It seemed to be getting a bit better but the chattering was still there. Didn't have time to put it through its paces yet. That will be in a couple of weeks when I have some significant bush hogging to do.

Don't know this 3000 very well yet but hey, the service manual showed up over the weekend!

Thanks for all the insight.
