hydraulics/draft control

So I am doing extensive work on my to-30 and I am starting with the hydraulic/draft control systems. I had to cut the old draft spring rod to get it out I got a new one from Yesterday's tractor and it s not quite the same as the old one. The new one's head is larger and has a different shape. The existing triangular plate that the head of the rod rides in has grooves that I think were made for the rod head to ride in. Do I need to reshape the new rod with a grinder to the same shape as the old one or will it work as it is? Thanks for any help.

After research I think those groves are from the wear of the shaft.

Your new arm should work just fine with the old part.
