Hydraulics - new development :)

I have described problems with my 47 8n lift not functioning well. After being straightened out by Soundguy to have the draft control in horizontal position for touch control I was still getting almost zero lift. Today, as I was bush hogging, I looked at the control lever under the seat and noticed it was 1/2" up from horizontal. I reached under and shoved it down and lo and behold, up came the bush hog! I let up and down she went. I then lashed the lever down with chord, in full horizontal position, and my touch control worked like a charm!

Does anyone know what I need to do (adjust) so the lever will lock in horizontal position properly?

Yes, I used to have mine wired down to the footboard.

You need to take the cover off and fix all the linkage and stuff, especially the cam pin.

Dunk - thanks for the quick reply. Am I doing any damage with this jury rig if I operate this way for 20 hours of disking and planting?

Tie it down & get your work done. When you have a full day (or, if you're slow like me, two) to devote to the tractor, pull the top cover & drop the pump. W/ Zane's jig & some cleaning & adjusting, you can get the hydraulics working just fine.

Lots of folks around here have done both can help you out.

Thanks guys. Bruce, I ran across a post of yours from back in May on how to pull the cover for the adjustments and pin replacement. Very thorough and helpful. A good early Fall project...... and I have a chain hoist rigged at the farm when needed.

I hope not - I've been running one of mine this way for about 3 years now. I did get Zane's jig, cam follower pin and instruction book, but haven't got around tuit as yet as it still works and I've got lots more important stuff to do.

No damage.
