hydraulics on 1963 4000

I think dean may have found my problem. I have had the prob of 3 pt not lifting fully unless added weight was on implement. He stated it could be relief valve... Low and behold I dont recall anything being there when I removed that plate on the underside to look for some sort of clogged pickup screen. It may be that I didnt remove it properly. Can anyone tell me how that relief valve comes out? Is it in the pickup line? I did find a strange object in my sump, it looked like a cap ( like a plumbing 1/2 solder on copper cap, except is was chrome colored) I had no idea where this went, and it may be part of my missing relief valve... any ideas? The relief valve inserts into the sump cavity from below and is flush to the bottom surface inside of the plate. Look for a circular area that is about 1" in diameter.

The relief valve is internally threaded with 1/4x20 threads and can usually be pulled out by threading a bolt into the threads and prying it out. If it cannot pe pried out, you can drive it out from above if the lift cover has been removed as it extends completely into the sump just inside of the hydraulic tubes.

There are 2 O-rings on it as well as another on the alignment dowel affixed to the cover plate.

The object that you describe sounds like the top part of the relief valve. Look in the hydraulic parts section on this site for a picture of a relief valve.

I'll bet that means there is a ball bearing rolling around in there (SUMP) as well!
