i have a 48 8n ford,,ok i took the top housing of i cleaned the piston it all moves just fine. When i had it off i checked the intake control valve on the pump it moved very freely.when i put the top housing back on and bolted it back together the control arm went back in the intake control valve but when i checked it i would raise the control lever up and down the control arm would only move up and down,,,i would think it would move the intakecontrol valve forward and back(in and out)please help what i should i do yall....cory

It should push the Intake Control fully into the pump for up position of lever. If not, the linkage has problems of wear &/or adjustment. Looks like you get to remove top cover again, but before you do, reach in the inspection port and force the Intake control valve into the pump & see if it will then raise.

ok i tried running the tractor and tried moving the intake control valve by hand it moved up but i had no load on it tried to hook up bushhogg i couldnt get the arms all the way down so i started it up again and tried to move control valve and NOTHING arrrrrrrr!!!!!so whats next??????????very confused.....cory

It should be as shown for lift. Opposite extreme for down.

Probably closer. Can you determine whether it is the valve that is stopping the movement into the pump OR the skinny control rod that is stopping movement. If the control rod, you can loosen the 4 bolts at base of lift lever and slide the whold affair for/aft and this will re-position the control lever.

went ahead and pulled the pump the control valve looks like it dont go all the way in i cantell where it is spose to stop from useage it was all the way in guess clean pump all out huh??????

Maybe plugged inlet tract passage. Could be the inlet/outlet valves or pistons/bores. Usually all 4 wouldn't completely fail together, however, if one of the 4 outlet valves stuck open, the other cylinders would find that the stuck open valve is the path of least resistance. The bottom two of the 4 pipe plugs on the valve bodies should be clear back to the hole(s)/annular ring in the bushing that Intake Control valve is removed from.
Another critical part is the check valve, so while you have pump removed from tractor, you should inspect the plunger, spring, and seat (part of pump casting).
