Hydrostat Problem

My Cub Cadet 2086 will not maintain speed. I will set it to a speed and within a short time it starts going faster and faster until it is full speed ahead. It it a hydrostat problem or a linkage problem? I"m open to suggestions.

Does your hydrostatic shifting lever move when your tractor speeds up? If it does you may need to tighten to friction spring on the shifting lever that should be beneath the tractor on that lever. Hal

99% sure it's the linkage preset friction.

I found out the hard way: DON'T OIL THIS LINKAGE unless it is really stuck. Mine did the same thing.

If the Hydro Lever moves, then the Friction Nut on the pivot point needs to be tighten to 10" pounds of resistance.
