i am stumped

Hello I am in need of some help. I have a ford 2000 industrial tractor its around a 62-64 model year. I seem to be having trouble getting it to run right. I have replased the cap and rotor new plugs and wires, i even rebulit the carband still does not want to run right. I have checked and rechecked the timing and firing order but it still wants to spit and sputer and not run right. Can anyone out there please help to figure this out so that i can have my tractor back please and thank you.

ll that & not the points? Also, might check for vacuum leak at intake gaskets, carb mounting, etc.

Plug in the fuel line? Sounds like it could be starving for fuel.

Have you checked the firing order?Also recheck the point gap and timing with a light.

my ford 4000 has not been running good so i checked the plugs,rotor, wires,and points all looked good but still would not run good so i decided to put new points in it. when i took out old points they were burned right through. new points did it ran great after that

Try a new condensor and be sure it is tight.

Make sure your gas cap is vented.Make sure your air filter is not plugged or some way restricted.Make sure your not using 2 year old gas.Just throwing some ideas your way.

I would first check the simple things that sometimes get goofed up. The #1 cylinder is closest to the radiator. Then the fire order is 1243. I can never remember rotation, so I bump the starter and look at the rotor moving to be sure!

If all that is good, I'd then check the wires in the dist to make sure there are no areas that are shorting. Those old wires are a good source of shorts.

The other area that concerns me is the carb. No offense, but while it's easy to rebuild a carb, it's also easy to miss a small hunk o junk that is clogging up a teeney weeney little hole. I've even done it myself!

. . .and, were those new wires copper core wires? I've cleared up a lot of problems by trading new resistance wires for the old fashioned copper core. . .
